The Power of Your Thoughts

Today, I feel led to post about the power of thought, thinking patterns, and destructive thinking. First and foremost, since I will be speaking a bit on depression, I would like to note that if you or someone you know is suffering from depression and/or any other mental health concern(s), it is advised to open up and ask for help. Please know that is it is okay to feel and okay to ask for help, and it always will be. Here, is a safe space for us to learn and cleanse together.

Recently, I've taken some time to learn more about the power of thought. It is said that everything that we see was manifested by thought. Imagine, the thought of paper, a cell phone, a pen, candles, flower arrangements, weapons, happiness, all of these things came from a thought or even a pattern of thinking. When studying the law of attraction, I've learned that our thoughts are yet another source of energy that has the power to manifest into reality, to impact our moods, and to alter the way that we think and perceive life.

I'm sure we've all read various quotes that say, "your life is what you make it" or how one decision can change your life. So think, our thoughts can literally change our lives, change our perspectives on life, change the way we view ourselves as well as everything and everyone around us.

I've mentioned thinking patterns a few times already, and to provide a formal definition, it is a technique that allows us to make sense of a situation, be it challenging or not, and will enable us to think through that situation and provide solutions to said challenge (if one occurred). Thus, how we think on a regular basis to ourselves, or even out loud, is critical. Perhaps you find yourself trapped in a cyclic destructive thinking pattern; now, include "negative self-talk" as one form of destructive thinking, and imagine how these thoughts impact you on a daily basis with onsets of depression, self-doubt, and so much more. If we all knew the immense power we possess as individuals, starting with our thoughts, what really could life be? What could your life be? How could life transform for the better?

I, like many others, have suffered from cyclic destructive thinking in the form of depression and negative self-talk. I have also struggled with suicidal thoughts and even attempted it. By the grace of the universe (God), my attempt failed. And by the wisdom of experience and opportunity to awaken from within, I've learned and experienced the power of thought. I now am able to refocus my attention on loving and positive thoughts. Even the moment I feel myself creeping into a negative headspace, I invade my own thoughts with love, prayer, happiness, and self-reassurance.

How did I get to this place? After years of meditation, cleansing my aura, building healthy relationships, and seeking answers to some of my greatest questions, I've been able to transform my thinking. I share my thoughts with you today for two reasons: 1) to introduce the video linked below that provides a more in-depth explanation of the power of thought and the law of attraction and 2) to share 7 recommendations to help you transform your thoughts starting right now:

1. Thought Stopping. Once you recognize that a negative thought is present, literally stop yourself. Disrupt that pattern. If you don't know want constitutes a negative thought for you, take some time to go within yourself and think. Write on a piece of paper the positive and negatives you feel about yourself. Granted we are not perfect beings, but if the negatives outweigh the positives, then perhaps its time to reframe your thinking and to shower yourself with positive affirmations.

2. Positive Affirmations. This can take the form of a thought technique, system or pattern. Here, I recommend creating mantras for yourself. For example "I am love. I am a valuable person. I attract love. I have a purpose. I am here and now. I am one with the universe."

3. Write. Write your thoughts, write your feelings, express and let go. Many times we hold onto negative feelings and thoughts that, in fact, need to be released. Let the baggage go. Write it down and if you wish, destroy that piece of paper. And as you see it go, take a deep breath in, hold for 4 seconds, and release allowing all negative thoughts and energy to exit with that exhale.

4. Meditate. Personally, meditation has changed my life. I am able to feel one with my soul, with everything around me, creating balance and healing. Conveniently in this day and age of technology, we have phone apps. One that's super helpful for beginners is Headspace. Even 5 minutes to start off your day or before sleep will make a difference and begin to balance the chemicals, energy frequencies, and thought patterns in your head.

5. Get some sleep. I can't stress enough the importance of sleep. Getting between 6-8 hours of sleep has a vast array of benefits, one being to better regulate our emotions and thinking. Check out this fantastic book on Why We Sleep here.

6. Healthy eating. Healthy eating is more than just about cutting back on junk, fast, and fried foods. It's understanding that what we eat interacts with the chemicals in our bodies and ultimately our thoughts. Eat with the intention to absorb high frequency and energy lifting foods. Think holistic health and wellness.
7. Spend Time Outdoors. Nature has transformative power. It heals, it soothes and creates a sense of peace, balance, and comfort. In addition to everything else mentioned, remember that we are a part of nature, and indeed one with it. Thus, take the time to soak in the life-changing power of nature.
