"Island" by Aldous Huxley

A phenomenal book written by a phenomenal man. This novel is a must read by any and everyone who  enjoys a fiction tale based off eastern and western philosophical teachings. As I dove into it head on, I found myself reading familiar sayings and perspectives of Asian philosophy as this novel is based off of a Buddhist society in Pali. Their views are simple, tactics practical and way of life peaceful, however, a young soon to be ruler challenges their "basic" way of life as he was stripped of his rights and raised in the western society during their "Golden Age" of industrialization, money, and wars.
Huxley's view on life is presented in such a way which will have an ordinary reader wanting to experience what these characters breathe everyday. Peace, love, joy, happiness, and overall a nonjudgemental society morally sane. If only his view on what life should be like actually had a chance to survive for just maybe so many wouldn't have to die in agony and vain.
If only the Golden Age never ended, and instead of money, cars, wars, sex and clothes, we all learned the importance of meditation, self-acceptance and the acceptance of the world around us; nature and all. If only we all had a chance to leave what was and remain in what is, only to realize that anything we ever search for is resting aimlessly under our pits. If only your sin and mines were no different. If only we all realized that just maybe we are all gods made in a greater image.

The saying goes "Live. Laugh. Learn." The sad part is that most people don't.
